Hilton beach is a very popular recreational beach in Abu Dhabi attracting a lot of beach goers. Severe erosion at beach has been a persisting problem threatening the safety of the guests as well as the adjacent properties and facilities. The lack of beach is likely to cause flooding events in that area during Shamal storms. Consequently strong concerns about safety of guests and damage to the existing walkways and facilities during storm condition are been raised. Significant perturbation has resulted due to construction of various structures in the past such as fishing harbours, major parts and revetments etc. and still continues due to new projects.
Coastal erosion and foreshore recession resulting from the interaction of works with natural coastal process has become manifest in various areas along the coast line. This project compromises the maintenance, repairs and improvements to coastal protection works as well as maintenance of the marine infrastructure within the Abu Dhabi coastal zone.
